Sri-Pat Guest House, Chiang Mai
Sri-Pat Guest House comes highly recommended when searching for a comfortable accommodation in Chiang Mai. In fact, all of the travel forums i had visited have positive comments and stories of excellent experience from staying at the said guest house.

Soi 7, alley outside Sri-Pat Guest House
While most of the young backpackers looking for some fun in the more happening part of town, around the Night Bazaar where there are pubs and restaurants, we had chosen the more serene area within the old city’s wall. Not that we are old and wrinkly and boring but because of Sri-Pat’s good reputation.
The guest house is located at Soi 7, a rather peaceful and quiet area, just 10 minutes walk from the Night Bazaar. Not quite far from the major attractions and eateries but away enough for a unobtrusive stay.
Sri-Pat Guest House is no run-in-the-mill guest house. In fact, this quaintly and charmingly decorated guest house provides the most excellent service and so comfortable, you can’t help but feel right at home.
The moment i got down from the tuk-tuk and saw the guest house i knew we made the right choice. The veranda was stylishly done, the polished matte wood and brown bricks, green plants and umbrella reminded me of a resort or a spa parlor more than anything.
Entering into the guest house, you will get a rough idea of the carefully designed interior of the building. From the matte-finish wood, the celadon/ceramic tiled hallways to the thoughtful placement of striking furniture, all exude charm and elegance.
At 900Baht per night for a double/twin bed, you get top notch facilities too. The price is excluding breakfast but there is a built-in cafe cum restaurant at the lobby lounge which you can buy yourself a Thai as well as English cuisine at a reasonable price.
Other than that the rooms have equally elegant design with full amenities such as air-con, mini-fridge, hair-dryer, telephone and television. I must mention the bathroom because it was super clean and comfortable to use with hot shower and basic toiletries such as shampoo, soap, ear buds and sanitary bags. Please take note that not all guest house provides this so it was pleasant to see that it was available.
Free internet access is available downstairs at the lobby. A single laptop to share but it’s alright since there won’t be a long queue. If you are in a hurry i bet you could ask the reception to use the internet at their workstation too. The staff are very accommodating.
The room comes with a balcony but not much of a view though, facing the next building. But at least the sunlight could come in and you get to see the courtyard below. That’s for rooms with air-con which is fortunate because in during the summer (which is when we were there) the sun could get the room pretty warm. For a cheaper price you could get a room without air-con but i heard the rooms are dark because it’s at the back of the complex.
An ash-tray was on the table to hint that smoking is for outdoors only.
Sri-Pat doesn’t have pick-up services but you could always get a tuk-tuk to and from the airport or to any other destination. Make sure you ask the front desk about the appropriate transportation price to avoid getting ripped off.
You can also arrange for tours through the front desk. It’s very convenient and they will make sure everything is in place for you.
Once again i must say i am in love with the green celadon tiled hallways. It makes it very picturesquely dreamy don’t you think?
Sri-Pat is family oriented and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They speak very good English too. It’s not surprise since they would happily sit down at the guest house cafe and chit-chat with you (if you have got the time) to polish up their English or to teach you some Thai language.
If you need anything at all, just ask because they are exceptionally hospitable and sincerely concern about you having a good stay in their guest house. There are a few girls we met working at the front desk that looked much alike, i suspect that they are siblings, part of the family running the guest house. Anyway, they are the cutest ever and very friendly too. I was having fever that very first day i arrive in Sri-Pat and they were so concern about my sickness, i felt really touched.
If you are concerned about safety, then be rest assured that Sri-Pat is totally safe to stay. The area around the guest house is practically safe too at night. The staff usually isn’t around by night time but there is a security guard placed at the lobby to make sure everything is alright. If you are to venture out of the guest house for some night activities, then you’ll need to leave the room key on the coffee table before going out so you will be accounted for.
The guard will know if you never made it back *touch wood!*.
Oh and one more thing, Sri-Pat looks great at night ![]()
Hour Past Midnight
I finally got around posting my February trip to Bangkok and Chiang Mai. It wasn’t a very long trip. Just a 7 days trip To Bangkok and Chiang Mai. 3 days Bangkok and 4 days Chiang Mai – but minus the traveling and transport, the time spent isn’t nearly enough.
Yeah, pardon the poor photo quality. It doesn’t do the beautiful city justice. I just can’t imagine lugging around a chunky DSLR everywhere i go. Call me old school or just plain old fashion for still using an outdated digital camera. Haha…

It’s pretty silly to purchase a ticket for an afternoon or worst evening flights. Not if it’s absolutely necessary – like your great grandaunt dying and you need to be there in time for the inheritance or something. Haha just kidding. Surely you know what i mean… right?
But really, evening flights are tiring and a waste of time. By the time you arrive, it’s already time to hit the sack. Another day wasted. However, most of the free flights at Air Asia are just darn difficult to reserve. It’s always either the flight time or the dates that clashes. Free stuff doesn’t comes easy huh?

Take a Nap Hotel – pic taken the next morning
Take a Nap Hotel was like god’s sent after a tiring midnight flight. We arrived an hour past midnight and was greeted at once by our hotel pick-up who was polite and friendly. The ride wasn’t bad too, a Toyota Inova. Mom was gushing all the way to the hotel at the sight of Bangkok cabs. She kept saying “Waaaa… Toyota as cab! Compare to us….tsk tsk!”. She can be so cute sometimes
.
I couldn’t have picked a better hotel. Really.
It was modern yet cozy, clean and comfortable. My parents loved it and so did the rest of us, especially loved our pink themed room with 4 beds. Yeah, it was then that i decided to have my own room divider like the one in the hotel room.

Take a Nap Hotel – gorgeous divider
The parents took the bamboo themed room with twin beds. It’s on a floor above us. It’s just as comfy but a little smaller.
I don’t have the photo of it because i always forgot to bring my camera along when we crashed into the parents room.

Take a Nap Hotel – queen size bed
One complaint though…
the view.
Great huh?…

A Visit to Take A Nap Hotel
Remember i wrote a post on Take a Nap Hotel last year? Let me refresh your memory.
I wrote that article after stumbling upon a blog reviewing that particular hotel. I remember being impressed with the fresh and modern interior. The many different interior of every single room in the reasonably priced hotel. I however have not even been to the hotel in Bangkok at that time.
Not until this year that is
.
My family and i were in Bangkok for a short trip early this year and i took the chance to visit Take a Nap. My only reservation was would it be comfortable enough for my mom and dad. I hoped that the hotel would be clean and quiet enough. And i’m glad it really was.
The hotel is located in the centre of Silom district (in the heart of Bangkok) and is just a few blocks from the sky train (BTS) and subway (MRT). All we need is to walk a few minutes and save a few bucks from not taking the cab. The shopping centres and other tourist attraction is easily reachable. If you would like to experience Bangkok’s colorful nightlife, the Patpong district is just around the corner.
Despite being in the centre of the city and so near to Patpong, Take a Nap is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. There are not many hotels or hostels around the same street. Not even the famous Bangkok road traffic were penetrable.

Pink room – additional bed next to room divider
We had reserved 2 rooms for the 6 of us. The Bamboo room for my parents and the Pink room for the rest of us.
The rooms were just as the photos we saw on the hotel website. Very pretty, comfy and neat. Most important, the bathroom was squeaky clean. I’m super particular about bathrooms LOL!

Pink room – under orange lighting
I actually have nothing but praises for Take a Nap. Besides the comfortable accommodation, the service was excellent. The hotel staff and reception was extremely polite and helpful, my parents kept going on and on about them haha.
They speak fluent English and were very informative. If you don’t know your way around the city do not hesitate to ask the receptionist, he/she would even help you save some time and cab fees by recommending the alternative routes around town. So, kudos to the staff!
Yes, i wouldn’t mind staying here the next time i visit Bangkok. Even though the view from our room weren’t what you would call the best

Vacation at Nicaragua
One of the reason i love traveling is because it is an opportunity for me to immerse myself in varies cultures and to experience the magnificent landscapes i don’t get to see in my own country. That is why i always look forward to visiting places that are less tourist oriented and less traveled.
Nicaragua is one of the place that i would definitely want to visit one day. It has the comfort and necessities to cater for a smooth vacation but yet a destination that still maintains it’s natural charm and beauty. Even the hotels and vacation rentals are most charming, reflecting the local’s vigor.
Take for example, Granada Nicaragua Vacation Rental , Casa Antigua.
Located in the historic area of Granada, the rental house has an interior decorated with antiques and artwork projecting a very historic and local feel. In all, the house is very spacious with 3 bedrooms, private bathrooms, air-conditioning and a fully equipped kitchen too.
With a great garden, fountain and a pool, it creates a serene environment suitable for a comfortable stay.
Or if you are more interested in the seascape or beaches, there is the San Juan del Sur Hotel which conveniently is located near the in San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. This is a perfect paradise for beach lovers because San Juan Del Sur is a fishing village and also the heart of famous Nicaraguan surfing beaches.
You know what, i after checking the websites about Nicaragua, i wouldn’t mind a place of my own there. Imagine flying to Nicaragua whenever i like for a long vacation at my very own beachfront property, sipping on cocktail while enjoying the ocean view. Damn, i wish i really own a property there. It would be fantastic.
I tempted you didn’t i? Well, don’t just sit there. Check out the Nicaragua real estate and drool over the great beach!
